Drilling Mud Additive

Calcium Chloride is extensively used in oil and gas industry as an additive for drilling mud to cool and lubricate the drilling bit. It also helps in improving density of the mud to overcome formation pressures and keep oil, gas, and water in place

Reducing Corrosion: Catalysed Sodium Sulphite is used directly with drilling heads and the tubing, corrosion caused by the presence of oxygen is reduced significantly. This corrosion causes leaking of natural minerals into the surroundings thereby contaminating the environment. 

Freidel Craft Catalyst & Additive

Aluminium Chloride Anhydrous is used as a catalyst, especially in Friedel-Crafts reaction, for the manufacture of Styrene, Anthraquinone & in other dyestuffs (Green Pigment), pharmaceuticals and perfumes.

It also finds use in ion exchange resins, lubricants, wood preservatives, crude oil refining, and as a nucleating agent in the manufacture of Titanium Dioxide pigments.

Paper Solutions

Paper Sizing - Cellulosic fibers are anionic & hydrophilic in nature. Poly Aluminium Chloride based Cationic coagulants are used for neutralization of anionic trash of fiber and as sizing aid for neutral and acidic sizing. Sizing makes the paper suitable for writing and printing by avoiding penetration of water. 

Bleaching - A pulp which does not discolour during storage or go yellow when exposed to sunlight, and which retains its strength is required to produce high quality paper. Bleaching with Stable Bleaching Powder achieves all three requirements and has the additional advantage of improving absorption capacity.

Color Locking - Calcium Chloride is behind the Color Lock Technology which is the mark for brighter colors, bolder blacks and quicker drying for faster handling time and smudge-free, high-quality prints.

Delignification: Sodium Sulphite is added to the wood chips for the purpose of softening and better delignification helping in production of good quality paper with high strength.

Water Softening

Phosphoric acid is used to produce water softeners. Water softeners remove Calcium and Magnesium ions from "hard" water. If not removed, these ions react with soap and form insoluble deposits that cling to laundry and washing machines.

Oxygen Scavenger

Oxygen present in the water is the major source of corrosion & hence to improve the quality of water, removal of oxygen from water is extremely critical. Cobalt based Sodium Sulphite, an advanced form of Sodium Sulphite helps in removing this extra oxygen from water at a faster pace.

Textile Dying

Dyeing in textile industry is one of the most important processes. The presence of chlorine during dyeing affects the overall quality of the final fabric. Sodium meta bisulphite helps in removal of chlorine from the fabric before it goes through the dyeing process thus contributing in improving the fabric quality.

Mining

Mineral ore’s when mined tend to have many forms of metals present within them. In order to separate these metals a tertiary chemical such as cyanide is added during mining. Once the metals are removed the solution bath cannot be released in the environment without being treated. Sodium metabisulphite acts as a depressant and is used for treating this bath to neutralize the effect of cyanide, allowing for the water to be released back to the environment. 

Chemical Synthesis

In manufacturing of certain products sodium metabisulphite is used as one of the reagents in this chemical reaction/synthesis, either as a catalyst or a monomer.  

Metal Treatment

Sodium Metabisulphite is used in metal treatment industry, to convert the heavy metal chromium VI to chromium III.  Chromium VI is carcinogen and the water containing chromium VI cannot be released into atmosphere and surroundings.

Bleaching

The starch manufacturing process uses sodium metabisulphite as preservative and bleaching of starch to make it whiter.
