There is nothing like giving back to life. We speak through our actions. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community initiatives, are an integral part of our sustainability efforts.

Contributing to Aditya Birla Group’s global footprint positively impacting 9000 villages globally and reaching out to 11 million people annually, we build on the legacy and will continue to imbibe our businesses with the belief that our products, supply chains and solutions are successful only when they are environmentally friendly, safe and socially responsible.

This comes with clear policy and institutional framework. It helps us work on a strategic direction for maximum contribution. Made possible with our team of industry experts & field workers under the leadership of Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, and admirably supported by Dr. Pragnya Ram, Group Executive President, Group Head – CSR, Legacy Documentation and Archives. Through initiatives in health, education, social, sustainable livelihood, and infrastructure development, our aim is to build a sustainable future, every day.

We improve the learning environment in the schools in and around our facilities. We also provide scholarships and technical education to children, thereby aiming to ensure basic education, desired knowledge and skill to all.

  • Facilitation of model schools & Anganwadis by creating basic facilities
  • Adoption of schools for development through infrastructure development like providing desk benches, study material distribution etc. impacting over ~1300 children
  • Basic computer education through roaming laptop program covering ~800 children
  • Raising awareness about good sanitation and hygiene practices through training and games covering over ~10000 children
  • Scholarships and study material distribution in a continuous manner

We engage with Self Help Groups (SHG) to empower households financially and socially. Key training is provided by SHGs across different vocations. Key focus area is on women empowerment in India and bringing smiles to all across communities

  • Tailoring training for girls of the 7th and 8th standard, covering 570 girls
  • Computer Shiksha for students of Babhani & Muirpur intercollege at Chemicals
  • In line with providing social support, providing regular support to a school for blind children, organizing rehabilitation camp every alternate year, organizing sports programs to promote rural sports, distributing blankets and woollen clothes to those in need, organizing Bal-Mela, mass marriage under the Chief Minister’s Kanyadan Yojna and many more.
  • At Aditya Birla Chemicals, Thailand (Sulphite business division), an unique initiative in distributing hand-made ‘elephants’ to bed patients in the community of Saraburi (Thailand) and arranging courses for learning the method of sewing ‘Elephant’ as gifts with fiber cotton waste has been undertaken

Our manufacturing units are at remote locations across India where agriculture is a prime occupation. We familiarize farmers with innovative cropping techniques involving sustainable practices resulting in higher returns through better yields. We also explore possibilities for imparting other skills for sustained income.

  • Imparting knowledge on improved agricultural practices to 275 farmers by giving seeds of 25 types of vegetables in 2 seasons, facilitating farmers for green house farming, providing Malhiabadi Dussehri mango sapling to farmers, distributing about 6,000-8,000 saplings every year and information on nadef compost construction
  • Raising awareness about improved agricultural practices, covering ~ 600 farmers and imparting agriculture, plantation and farm-based training
  • Sarva Seva Samity Sanstha Project to promote livelihood with intervention of agriculture and allied services, for small farmer groups at the village level
  • Promoting sufficient economy to farmers and teaching methods of processed products in Banchoong, Chalerm Phrakiat, Saraburi communities in Thailand
  • Animal husbandry programs
  • Skill-based training & development program across practical training of Lath e Machine OP and Logistic & Warehousing to men for ease of job placements and account & Tally and retails to women for their empowerment and income through Kaushalya vocational skill training
  • Implementation of skill training in various trades in partnership with VIVEC (Vivekananda Institute of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Concept, Nationally Recognized) and ICA Edu Skills Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
  • Imparting knowledge and training in the field of handmade craft from stone beads and leather to promote occupation in Thailand

We are taking up projects to enable physical connectivity to towns through roads, augmenting power connectivity through renewable sources, as well as digital and mobile connectivity. Additionally, drinking water and water conservation, hygiene and sanitation and school infrastructure.

  • To provide safe drinking water and to drive water conservation, renovated ponds in the surrounding villages, installed and repaired hand pumps and constructed soak pits and RO facilities
  • Contributing to hygiene and sanitation in large congregations in India like Rath Yatra, Kumbh Mela and many more by domestic Chlor-Alkali business
  • Constructed water tanks in the toilets and sanitation toilets constructed in 6 villages (with Government funding), construction of individual/ household toilets, eradication of malaria, water and sanitation management by Organization (WASMO) under Sujlam Suphalam initiative
  • Preventive healthcare fogging to eradicate dengue and malaria in 6 villages, with support of Gram Panchayat.
  • Promote knowledge for waste separation to Talingchan, Saraburi community and provide separate bins for recycled waste, wet waste, general waste, and hazardous waste in Thailand.
  • Offered support to 7 schools, like toilet renovation, flooring, hand pump repairing and installation, and providing water, renovated Anganwadis and supported several government schools.

We provide quality healthcare facilities with special focus on maternal and child health with an aim to have healthcare within the reach of all

  • Healthcare awareness programs, medical camps in numerous villages, pulse polio camps in collaboration with government agencies, eye camps, women’s health awareness camps,
  • State of art hospital at Veraval, Gujarat
  • Breathing practice/ pran training/ practice in acupressure therapy, solve finger lock and teaching about herbal water for health
  • Organized a two day Health Check-up camp in wards of Rishra municipality, with Apollo hospital
  • The Saraburi (Thailand) community received knowledge in medical health check and healthcare by specialists from the Saohai hospital.
